Choosing me
Choosing Me: Putting Myself Out There for the First Time in a Long Time
For so long, I’ve been everything for everyone else…mom, partner, friend, caretaker. My energy has been poured into making sure everyone around me is okay, often at the expense of myself. And while I wouldn’t trade the love and purpose those roles bring, somewhere along the way, I stopped doing things just for me.
Lately, I’ve felt a pull. A quiet little voice saying: What about you? What lights you up? What would happen if you put yourself out there, even just a little?
So, I’ve decided to listen.
This isn’t about abandoning responsibilities or neglecting my family. It’s about remembering that I’m a person too, with dreams, talents, and a heart that needs nurturing. Whether it’s starting a new hobby, sharing my words, going back to something I used to love, or simply allowing myself to step into the spotlight for once, I’m choosing to take that leap.
It’s scary. Vulnerability always is. But I also know that growth doesn’t come from staying small. And maybe, just maybe, by choosing myself, I’ll show my kids and the people I love that it’s okay to chase joy and put your own passions on the map.
So here’s to doing something for myself for once…because I deserve it, too.
